Overview

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and rapidly changing situation. As our top priority is to educate and promote health, we have made the decision to postpone the 9th Annual Lawrence M. Brass Stroke Symposium, originally scheduled on June 12, 2020. The rescheduled date is forthcoming.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and are looking forward to continuing this educational program at a time that is safe for all to attend.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the world. Acute stroke care and secondary prevention management has rapidly evolved. Practitioners are tasked to remain updated on the latest guidelines and recommendations in the management of the stroke patients. Through case-based talks, faculty will discuss the complexities of stroke care in the era of strokes centers, state of the art imaging, breakthroughs in acute therapies and modern-day medical therapies.

Objectives
  1. Describe the emergent evaluation, treatment and risk stratification for patients with transient ischemic attack
  2. Recognize the treatment for patients with arterial dissection
  3. Discuss the utilization and limitations of advanced imaging in stroke care
  4. Review the indications and patient populations that may benefit from mechanical thrombectomy
  5. Describe advanced decision-making in the use of IV alteplase
  6. Discuss updated interventions and treatments for carotid disease
