Yale Liver Update 2026

Yale Liver Update 2026 is an annual CME course designed to provide a comprehensive review of the latest advances in the science and practice of hepatology, including updated research and guidelines from key GI/liver specialty societies (AASLD, AGA, ACG) as well as summarize new evidence emerging from annual international liver meetings such as The Liver Meeting (AASLD) and International Liver Congress (EASL). Key educational content will be summarized to enhance clinical implementation in the context of clinicians within internal medicine, surgery, gastroenterology, hepatology, infectious diseases, and endocrinology.

1. Describe optimal approaches to the evidence-based treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and hepatitis delta infections with incorporation of new practice guidelines, including advances in newly approved therapies
2. Discuss recent developments in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases of the liver such as MASLD/MASH, alcohol-related liver disease, MetALD, autoimmune hepatitis, PBC/PSC, cholestatic liver diseases in children, liver disease in pregnancy, drug-induced liver injury, and genetic liver diseases in adults.
3. Define optimal management approaches to improve clinical outcomes in patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension, nutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty in cirrhosis, and liver transplantation
4. Review evidence and updated guidelines addressing the emerging diagnostic methods and therapies for benign liver lesions and hepatocellular carcinoma.
