Overview
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and neurologic injury from cardiac arrest are leading drivers of death and disability nationally and worldwide.  "Neuro-resuscitation" of patients after TBI and cardiac arrest requires complex multi-disciplinary management to support patients through the acute phase of recovery.  In recent years significant research and technological advances have been made in treating the TBI and cardiac arrest patient populations.  By providing the most up-to-date information to providers in the region, we hope to optimize outcomes for these critically ill patients.  Faculty will discuss fundamental and up-to-date management principles for these patient populations and highlight recent breakthroughs in acute therapies.

Objectives
  1. Review the burden and fundamental management principles for patients with TBI and cardiac arrest
  2. Discuss issues in transporting patients with TBI and polytrauma
  3. Explore key principles of multi-modal invasive monitoring for acutely brain injured patients
  4. Review key issues in supportive care for acutely brain injured patients
  5. Examine the principles of care after cardiac arrest including targeted temperature management, management of seizures, and targets to stimulate
