Overview

Gastrointestinal motility is an area of specialization within digestive diseases that deals with the movement through the GI tract. Motility disorders can present with a myriad of digestive symptoms (swallowing difficulty, chest pain, reflux, nausea, vomiting, bloating, constipation and diarrhea) which causes diagnostic challenges.

Over the last few years newer techniques have improved our understanding of these entities. The course will focus on the new advances in motility and the current applications. This course will meet the need of physicians and mid-level providers to receive the most updated information from the past years including that presented at international research meetings.

  1. Describe optimal approaches to the treatment of different types of achalasia
  2. Discuss recent developments in the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal disorders
  3. Review evidence about the risks and benefits of PPI therapy
  4. Examine optimal approach to gastroparesis (Drugs, Pacing, G Poem)
  5. Discuss management of failed fundoplication and how to prevent it
  6. Recognize recent developments in the treatment of GERD
