Yale Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Symposium: Advances, Updates, and Clinical Challenges

Healthcare professionals across a wide range of specialties care for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although common, COPD is a complex and heterogeneous condition characterized by varying causes, disease trajectories, clinical presentations, and treatment needs.

This one-day, in-person symposium will bring together COPD experts to provide clinically relevant updates on the spectrum of disease, approaches to diagnosis and patient assessment, individualized management strategies, and emerging advances and challenges in the field. Participants will gain practical insights to support evidence-based, patient-centered COPD care.

1. Describe the heterogeneity of COPD, including its causes, disease trajectories, and clinical and radiologic manifestations.
2. Apply current evidence-based approaches to the comprehensive diagnosis and assessment of COPD.
3. Develop individualized treatment plans for patients with COPD based on current evidence and patient-specific needs.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.00 Medical Knowledge Only MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
