Overview

This course will provide world class educational programming regarding all aspects of aortic disease--including the root, ascending, arch, descending, abdominal, and thoracoabdominal segments. The goal of this unique conference is to provide up-to-the-minute evidence-based education in the diagnosis and management of aortic disease. This conference will bring together experts from cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, and genetics for multi-disciplinary exploration of current optimal diagnosis and management of aortic diseases.

Objectives
  1. Review the fundamental principles of aortic disease, including the pathophysiology, genetics, and current guidelines for medical management and intervention.
  2. Discuss strategies for managing acute aortic syndromes, including initial stabilization and surgical decision-making for various dissection types and ruptures.
  3. Compare open surgical, hybrid, and endovascular intervention options for pathologies affecting the aortic root, arch, descending thoracic, and abdominal aorta.
  4. Describe the importance of a team-based, shared decision-making model for care of patients with aortic pathologies and the need for life-long aortic surveillance program for comprehensive patient care.
