Overview
Cardiogenic shock is a high risk clinical syndrome that requires timely recognition and structured decision making to guide escalation of therapy. This activity will explore contemporary strategies for the assessment and management of cariogenic hock with an emphasis on mechanical circulatory support.

Objectives
  1. Describe the pathophysiology and classifications of cardiogenic shock
  2. Interpret clinical, hemodynamic, and imaging data to assess for severity of shock and identify indications for escalation in therapy
  3. Distinguish between different forms of mechanical circulatory support and describe limitations and benefits of each
  4. Describe the decision making process when considering transplant or LVAD
  5. Describe basic ECMO physiology and considerations in the intensive care setting
