Overview

The Yale Women’s Heart Symposium is a one-day, multidisciplinary program delivering evidence-based updates in cardiovascular care for women. National experts will translate emerging research and new guidelines into practical strategies across outpatient, interventional, surgical, and critical care—addressing sex-specific presentations and underrecognized conditions. Designed for clinicians in all practice settings, the symposium features concise lectures, case discussions, and expert panels to help close care gaps and improve outcomes for women with cardiovascular disease.

Educational sessions will cover topics across the continuum of cardiovascular care, including coronary and valvular disease, heart failure, electrophysiology, cardio-oncology, peripheral vascular disease, and structural heart interventions. The program is ideal for cardiologists, internists, primary care physicians, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and allied health professionals.

Objectives
  1. Differentiate traditional and non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors in women across the lifespan.
  2. Apply sex-specific considerations to the evaluation and management of ischemic heart disease, including INOCA and SCAD.
  3. Evaluate strategies for complex coronary artery disease in women, including calcium modification, acute myocardial infarction/cardiogenic shock, and high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention.
  4. Optimize heart failure care in women, including during pregnancy and in cases of cardiac amyloidosis.
  5. Integrate 2024–2025 guideline updates and emerging evidence in cardio-oncology, electrophysiology, and structural heart disease into clinical practice.
  6. Implement at least two strategies to improve inclusive research and increase women’s representation in cardiovascular clinical trials.
