Overview

A major goal has been set to improve the musculoskeletal knowledge base of primary care physicians who manage the most patient visits related to musculoskeletal conditions. Musculoskeletal complaints are among the most common reason for patients to visit primary care physicians and emergency departments in the US, accounting for 10-30% of all primary care visits. This course will provide specialized education on diagnosing common musculoskeletal conditions, performing physical examinations, and optimal management and care of musculoskeletal disorders.


Objectives
  1. Identify a thorough differential diagnosis of common musculoskeletal conditions based upon the presenting patient complaints and age-specific populations
  2. Demonstrate a more comprehensive, yet focused, physical examination based on patient complaints and history of illness
  3. Utilize diagnostic imaging modalities such as x-ray, MRI, and CT scan more cost-effectively
  4. Demonstrate confidence in the management of care of common musculoskeletal injuries & conditions.

PLEASE NOTE: One entrance to the Yale West Campus Conference Center building will be closed off due to construction.  Follow signs to the East entrance of the building and park in lots E & F (adjacent to entrance).

Coming from the South: If you are coming from the South (New York), take I-95 North and get off at Exit 41 (Marsh Hill Rd). At the end of the ramp, go straight through the light. This is Frontage Road and the entrance ramp to I-95 Northbound. Stay in the right lane and bear right at the fork.  Follow signs to building 800, Conference Center.

Coming from the North: If you are coming from the North (Hartford/New Haven/Madison, etc.), take I-95 South. Get off at Exit 41 (Marsh Hill Rd). At the light at the end of the exit ramp take a left onto Marsh Hill Road. At the next traffic light, take a left onto the Frontage Road/I-95 Northbound entrance ramp. Follow this to the fork, stay in the right lane.  Follow signs to building 800, Conference Center.

Coming from the Merritt Parkway: Take the Merritt Parkway North to Exit 54 (Milford Connector). Go under the I-95 overpass and exit onto the ramp designated to New Haven (I-95 North). Get off at Exit 41 and continue with the directions above (Coming from the South) to reach West Campus.

GPS Users

GPS Mapping software that has not been recently updated must enter 141 Frontage Rd, Orange, CT for directions to campus. Updated devices can enter the new physical address of the West Campus Welcome Center, 100 West Campus Drive, Orange, CT. 100 West Campus Dr. is the entrance gate/welcome center to West Campus. Once you arrive at the gate, following signs to Building 800- the Conference Center. If you are taking a shuttle tell the driver Building 800, West Campus.
