Overview

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 - MEDICAL COMPLEXITY: DECEASED DONORS: 7:30AM-5:00PM, Reception at 5:30PM

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 - MEDICAL COMPLEXITY: LIVING DONATION: 8:30AM-5:00PM

Seventeen years ago, Cambridge’s John Bradley, PhD and Yale’s Jordan Pober MD, PhD developed a scientific exchange to enhance collaboration in Immunobiology. The scientific meeting has resulted in numerous collaborations between Yale and Cambridge, while providing an environment that enhances social and intellectual interaction. Based on this concept, the transplant programs at Yale and Cambridge have established an international course on Organ Transplantation, emphasizing cutting edge information in clinical and translational transplantation science. A program of this caliber and format is popular internationally, but limited. We are pleased to be the only facility hosting such an event within this region. It would be our pleasure to have you join us for the 3rd Annual Yale-Cambridge Transplantation Symposium to be held at the prestigious Yale Club in New York City this fall.

Objectives
  1. Be aware of organ allocation strategies including the expansion of criteria for deceased donor donation
  2. Utilize recent scientific breakthroughs in capabilities to decrease organ discard
  3. Discuss and apply ethical principles and practices when utilizing medically complex donors
  4. Integrate emerging technologies into practice
  5. Discuss the psychosocial and financial aspect of donation with prospective donors, especially unrelated donors
  6. Utilize new recommendations regarding strategies to minimize adverse impacts
  7. Apply state of the art techniques to improve rates of adverse outcomes
  8. Review the legal ramifications of living organ donation
