Overview
This Fall, we invite you to join us for the Yale Vascular Surgery Symposium to be held at the New Haven Lawn Club minutes from Yale's historic central campus in downtown New Haven.

The Symposium will focus on Advancing the Quality of Vascular Care. Continued monitoring of quality and implementation of strategies for improvement are essential to enhance the outcomes of patients with  multiple comorbidities facing complex diseases. Therefore, the vascular surgeon must have advanced knowledge in clinical evaluation, medical management, and techniques relating to open and endovascular treatment of vascular disorders.

In addition, other healthcare providers and team members play an essential role in providing comprehensive and coordinated care for this challenging patient population. Thus, it is critical for other health care professionals, caring for those patients and sometimes evaluating them before a vascular surgeon, to be aware of advances in the field and understand the therapeutic options provided by vascular surgeons.

This one-day hybrid symposium (live stream and in person) emphasizes the collaborative nature of vascular care and the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork in managing patients with vascular disorders. It is designed for physicians, physician assistants, APRNs, nurses, vascular specialists, perioperative teams, and technologists, focusing on quality improvement for patients with vascular disease. It will also provide updates on recent clinical trials, novel devices, and the integration of artificial intelligence algorithms to enhance the care of patients with various vascular diseases.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the role of transcarotid artery revascularization in the contemporary management of carotid disease
  2. Recognize the various forms of thoracic outlet syndrome and its treatment
  3. Explore the new therapies for superficial and deep venous disease
  4. Introduce new concepts of therapy for patients who are not candidates for traditional revascularization options
  5. Review of recent trials for the treatment of chronic limb-threatening ischemia
  6. Introduce next-generation anticoagulation agents
  7. Provide an overview of the role of artificial intelligence in the care of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms
  8. Review novel technologies that will improve the quality of care for patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms
  9. Underscore various institutional and national initiatives to decrease smoking
  10. Review the impact of the vascular quality initiative on patient care
  11. Summarize the current use of direct oral anticoagulants for patients with vascular disease
  12. Review quality of life measures and how to improve their use
