Overview
Members of the Medical Staff must be educated on certain topics pertaining to patient care at BH. These include, but are not limited to: infection prevention and control, prevention of blood stream, central line, and surgical infection. Proper and safe use of patient restraints and important information about pain management, patient rights and organ donation processes are also topics covered in this material. There are some slides that address basic administrative procedures and information important for Medical Staff to know about. These include, but are not limited to: recognizing and reporting events that occur in the hospital that are considered by the State of CT DPH to be "reportable" adverse events and recognizing impairment in other physicians and co-workers and how to properly handle such issues. The indications and procedures for calling the adult or pediatric "Rapid Response Team" (RRT) is also included.

Objectives
This course reviews the following topics that members of the YNHH Medical Staff must be educated on in order to provide patient care at BH:

  1. Infection prevention and control
  2. Prevention of blood stream, central line, and surgical infection
  3. Proper and safe use of patient restraints
  4. Important information about pain management
  5. Patient rights
  6. Organ donation procedures
  7. Basic administrative procedures
  8. Recognizing and reporting events that occur in the hospital that are considered by the State of CT DPH to be "reportable" adverse events
  9. Recognizing impairment in other physicians and co-workers and how to properly handle such issues.
  10. The indications and procedures for calling the adult or pediatric "Rapid Response Team" (RRT)
