The Yale School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education as a provider of continuing medical education. The school offers a variety of continuing education programs directed both at practicing physicians and at physicians whose interest is in the basic sciences.

Mission

The mission of the Yale School of Medicine's Center for Continuing Medical Education is to advocate and support the continuing professional development of health care professionals towards the betterment and health of society. Through its Center for Continuing Medical Education and its collaboration with the Yale clinical enterprise, the Medical School offers a full range of evidence-based educational programs based on adult learning principles that enhance the practitioner's knowledge base, provide updates and review, and expand competence and performance with the goal of improving patient health status and the health of the public.

Target Audience

In the tradition of the Yale School of Medicine as a world-class institution, the target audience of Yale CME includes the broad range of the medical profession, from full-time practitioners to academic physicians with special interests in research and teaching, primary care providers, and other allied health care professionals locally, nationally and internationally.

Content Areas

The activities accredited by Yale CME include primary care, specialty, and subspecialty topics in the field of medicine. The scope of these activities involves the body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public.

Yale CME provides content and material tailored to complement the participant's needs and schedule through the following educational activities: conferences and workshops; remote courses; enduring materials; and online learning. Content is based on evidence and changes according to ongoing needs as determined by Yale faculty and national measurements.

Results

As a CME program dedicated to the dissemination and discovery of new knowledge towards the betterment and health of society, Yale CME provides unbiased educational activities presented renowned Yale and visiting faculty, that are intended to enhance physician and other health professionals' performance. Outcomes measures assess how these programs influence behavior for the purpose of improving health outcomes and patient care.

Our Logo and Visual Identity

On Thursday April 29, 2021 we officially unveiled our new logo and refreshed visual identity and hope you love it just as much as we do!

The move reflects our center's 20+ year evolution from a two-person operation at risk of losing accreditation to a comprehensive full staff office awarded the highest level of accreditation from the ACCME, with a powerful learning management software customized for Yale CME and our learners in mind. We've enhanced our services to provide our clients with leading-edge educational experiences and optimized our resources by joining the Yale Medicine Learning & Development group - restructuring and transforming into a new center of excellence known as the Yale Medicine Learning Academy. We look forward to sharing more about the Learning Academy and our family of services in the new fiscal year; Summer 2021.

Yale CME's visual identity is embodied in the refreshed and modern logo design, which reimagines and streamlines medical education with the Cloud CME learning management software, an exclusive tool for our learners. Our logo symbolizes the engine of Yale CME; combining medicine with innovation. We are also employing a vibrant color palette, that has been incorporated into our monthly e-Newsletters, to reflect our energetic, passionate, and innovative approach to work.
