Overview
The 6-10 million American Muslims are a diverse group who include African Americans, 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from across the global, and the recent influx of refugees. The current social and political climate has further stigmatized and discouraged use of mental health services within the community. For mental health providers who may not have experience with Muslims, this online program will provide a valuable background on American Muslim culture as well as guidance on the nuances and techniques of cross-cultural counseling.

Objectives
  1. Participants will be able to describe the diverse demographic and culture diversity across the American Muslim community
  2. Participants will be able to describe the ways Islam and the Muslim tradition may inform explanatory models of mental health, disease, and treatment among the Muslim cliental
  3. Participants will be able to describe and reflect on the specific types of transference and counter-transference experienced in cross-cultural counseling
  4. Participants will be able to describe behavioral interventions and models of delivering care that have been explored in different communities

Registration
The registration fee for this online program is $20.00
